Donald Trump Also Has A Dream, And It’s Stupendous

By Bina Martin | Jan 16, 2017

In honor of Martin Luther King Day, Donald Trump has tweeted some responses to the iconic “I Have a Dream,” which MLK delivered at the March on Washington in 1963, just down the road from where the incoming leader will be sworn in this Friday.

MLK: I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.

Stole my lines. I was going to say this on Friday at the Inauguration. Now Melania’s going to have to write me a new opener. #onesmartpussy. --Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

MLK: One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. And so we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

Have already talked to Rahm Emanuel about this. If he can’t figure it out, I’ll get one of my millionaires to come in and do it for him. Sad! --Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

MLK: We refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt.

For the 100th time, it was a good business decision. The dishonest media wants to make filing for bankruptcy look like a bad thing. Good for taxes! --Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

MLK: There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality.

Firstly, a blatant rip-off of the 'Hamilton' song which I’ve never seen (would never do that). Secondary, many have been treated horribly by some people, not me. Most of them… --Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

…live in poverty and a few get shot by our nobel [sic] police. But I have a great relationship with them and they respect me. --Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

MLK: I have a dream…

Big deal. So does the ratings machine, DJT. You’re going to be hearing about it on Tuesday or Wednesday. Stupendous! --Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

MLK: I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

This is exactly what the house is going to do when they sit down at a table this week to rip apart Obamacare. #tableofbrotherhood --Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

MLK: I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification"…

FAKE NEWS. He doesn’t even know this governor. @MLK is just a flunky who lost big! --Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

MLK: …one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today!

This guy likes to repeat himself. All talk, talk, talk, talk --Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

MLK: And this will be the day -- this will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning:

My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing.

Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim's pride,

From every mountainside, let freedom ring!

And when this happens, and when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:

Free at last! Free at last!

Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!

Meh. Jackie Evancho will be singing a much snappier version of this at my Inauguration. Talk about a March on Washington. It’s gonna be huge. Catch it this Friday on NBC. --Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
