About the Acts

Janelle McGuinness is a Toronto-based comedian and actor. Having toured her last solo show ‘Self Made (still in the making)’ across Canada to the west coast, Janelle is thrilled to be back on the Second City stage! A Best of Fringe winning writer and performer, Janelle has prepared a fresh half hour of solo sketch hosted by her 1920s-esque cabaret singer character that is putting the ‘Great’ back in Great Depression. With views in the millions on her social media comedy sketches, this is a show you’re not going to want to miss!

DEBIT-CASH-OR-CREDIT (Mike Jankovich, Emma Friedman, and Paul Smith) is a new-generation Toronto sketch troupe. After officially forming in 2025, DCC has since performed at The Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival in 2024 and 2025, were finalists of 2025’s Sketch-to-the-Death, and won “Dumbest Sketch in North America” at Cam Wylie’s Sketch Comedy Invitational. For the first time ever Museum of Toronto’s live storytelling series, For the Love of Toronto, comes to The Second City. This speaker series brings together an eclectic ensemble of knowledge keepers, artists and performers, and civic and community leaders for an evening of candid conversation about what makes Toronto unique and what threads connect us in this ever-changing city.

Hosted by Elamin Abdelmahmoud (CBC’s Commotion), the array of Toronto voices includes international drag performer Tynomi Banks, Winner of Top Chef Canada Season 12 Coulson Armstrong, Opera Atelier’s Marshall Pynkoksi, CAMH’s Kwame McKenzie, influencer Chris Zou, author Kerry Clare, among others.

After getting a single suggestion, the cast of six professional comedians asks the audience to choose a detective. Enjoy as they invent a tale of crime, secrets, and scandals right before your eyes. The performers will keep track of facts, follow leads, and conclude who is the murderer, all while you take in a comedy experience unlike any you’ve seen before. Justin Shaw has been described as “a slightly caffeinated Stuart McLean” (The Buzz.) Shaw fuses comedy and storytelling to create solo theatre shows that have toured across Canada, with works presented by Theatre Aquarius, Blyth Festival, Charlottetown Festival, and Here For Now Theatre. As a standup comic, he has been featured on JFL42, CBC Laugh Out Loud, Hubcap Comedy Festival, Departure Festival, and has opened for Harland Williams, Fortune Feimster, and is a member of Yuk Yuks official comedy roster. Shaw’s latest comedy album Mostly Clean showcases his down-home yet outrageous sense of humour, and can be heard on Sirius XM Comedy Club. As a theatre artist, he is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada (Acting 2017) and select stage credits include Salt-Water Moon, Nook & Cranny: Twin Detectives, and Culture Shock alongside Lorne Elliott.

Created in 2024 by comedians Hilary Henderson and Michelle Forrester, Pink Chicken features an all-female lineup of standup comedians and a one-of-a-kind interactive audience segment.

Our interactive crowd segment invites audience members to share their boldest takes on the issues plaguing our modern world (from dating to mother wounds; no two shows are the same!) Topics usually revolve around mental health, self care, work, family, dating, relationships, and anything else pertaining to the female experience.

Hilary’s original comedic content has racked up over millions of views and has been featured in Narcity Canada, Yahoo Lifestyle, and girlie’s group chats across the world! She has performed standup across Canada and has opened for acts featured on Comedy Central, Jimmy Fallon, Just for Laughs, and CBC Comedy.

Michelle is a Canadian comic and writer born in Montreal. In 2023, she moved to Toronto to complete an MFA in Screenwriting at Toronto Metropolitan University where she co-created The Writers Room Sketch Show – a project that went on to win first place at the JFL Stand-Up and Pitch Contest. And In 2023, she was also named a New Face of Comedy by Just For Laughs. In 2022, she recorded on the JFL Originals album “Heavy Petting Zoo.” She will definitely beat you at a hot dog eating contest.

Rhythm and Riffs is a high-energy fusion of live music and longform improv, where each show features a different musical guest – that can range from rap, jazz, country, folk, full bands, and beyond – whose performance inspires a completely improvised comedy set. No two shows are the same. With a cast of seasoned performers and a spotlight on Chicago’s diverse music scene, Rhythm and Riffs feels like a concert, sounds like a mixtape, and plays out like your favorite night out.

In Worlds Collide, your favourite characters get smashed together an explosive, unpredictable show. Eight of Toronto’s funniest comedians play characters from fiction, history, pop culture and any other weirdly specific niche they can find. After meeting them, YOU, the audience decide on which characters you want to see do a hilarious improv scene together. Maybe Linda Belcher will be in a pitch meeting with Walt Disney. Maybe Rocky will be roommates with a Muppet. Any pairing can happen, as long as the audience decides it wants to see those Worlds Collide!

Join our Tavern Keeper, as they invite a volunteer from the audience onstage (maybe you!), and will help you create your very own role playing adventure! With the help of our Game Master and company of Adventurers, you will create your character, pick which Adventurer will play your character, and discover the location and genre of your adventure. However, as the story unfolds, the random roll of the dice will be the deciding factor on how well everything goes. Roll a 20, a glorious success! Roll a 1, a hilarious disaster! Join us to create your adventure onstage, where you and the roll of the dice have all the possibilities!
