John Mossman is an award-winning filmmaker and actor. He received Best Director awards for his acclaimed Indie feature Into The Wake and his short film Jell-Ohh Lady, and many of his short films and documentaries have been awarded Telly, Emmy and Voice Awards and screened worldwide.
He is also co-founder of The Artistic Home, and has taught and directed actors in Chicago and at the Screen Training Ireland institute in Dublin. He adapted and directed the Paddy Chayefsky screenplay The Goddess, receiving a Jeff Award for adaptation, and has directed hit revivals of Les Parents Terribles, Juno and the Paycock, Natural Affection, Clash By Night and Look Homeward, Angel, and is director of the web series “Devolve.” He was named “One of 10 People Making a Difference in Chicago Theater” by Performink Magazine, his work has been listed in numerous year-end top ten lists. In 2012 he was named a Best Director of the Year by WBEZ.
As an actor he has appeared in theaters throughout the country, as well as in film and on television, currently appearing in the Onion webseries Starwipe. He was nominated for an Equity Jeff Award for his performance in Peer Gynt, and also won the Chicago Stage Talk Award for performance.
He teaches Film Directing at Columbia College and received degrees in film and theater from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
