Jamie Buell is a writer, teacher and comedian. He has been performing since 2003.
During that time he’s been fortunate to work with some of Chicago’s funniest groups.
Favorites include: Blewt! Productions’ live-action talent competition Impress These Apes,
where he was the first season champion; Schadenfreude Productions for whom he
produced pre-show audience experiences for their 2008 election-year Rent Party tour;
and as one half of Montgomery & Cooke, the olde-tyme comedy team, with Becky
Eldridge.
He has performed improv and sketch at The Chicago Improv Festival, Milwaukee
Comedy Festival, Chicago Sketch Fest, Laugh Out Loud Theater, iO Chicago, and The
Playground Theater, where he also coached several groups. He teaches improv at
Laugh Out Loud theater in Schaumburg and has also taught Drama and writing in the
Chicago Public Schools both in the classroom and in after-school programs where he
helped high-school and middle-school students create original theater pieces using the
techniques of storytelling and improvisation. He studied at IO Chicago, The Second City,
and the Annoyance; he graduated from Loyola University and is pursuing a degree in
fiction writing at Northwestern. He’s married, has a dog and lives within walking distance
of real good sushi; the dream is real.
