Ed Goodman

Ed Goodman began his comedy career at Duke University as an undergrad. Exploring everything from stand-up, to playwrighting, to comedy analysis, Goodman put what he learned to immediate use writing an anonymous humor column for the Duke Chronicle.

After graduating, he moved to Kansas and started improvising. There, he met local
improvisor and soon to be Second City alum Jason Sudeikis. Goodman then moved to Chicago where he simultaneously studied at the Second City, The Annoyance Theatre and iO where he was a founding member of longform improv team J.T.S. Brown. He also opened an improv theater in Jacksonville, FL before joining The Second City Las Vegas, where he reunited with Sudeikis and performed in The Best of The Second City at the luxurious Flamingo Hotel.

Goodman then moved to LA where he joined the teaching staff of The Second City
Training Center and improvised with legendary house team Clark And Belmont. After completing the UCLA Professional Program in Screenwriting, Goodman was accepted into the prestigious Screenwriting Program at The University of California, Los Angeles School of Film and Television. In his second year, Goodman won the UCLA Showcase in the screenwriting. The following year he won it in television.

Goodman then went on to write a flurry of shows, both solo and ensemble, for LA
theater including Toddler Bangs America, Managing To Survive, Ed Goodman’s Ol’
Timey Brainwash and Mark Twain Answers All Your Questions. While Goodman
continued to teach and improvise, he wrote The Poe Show starring Brendan Hunt (Ted Lasso) which won the coveted Hollywood Fringe Best in Comedy Award. Goodman then opened his own script consultation service, Script Goodness.com.

Goodman is also a founding member of the LA based mash-up band Elvis Prestello.
