In this class, students will learn the basics of creating a hip hop improv scene. We will dive into various styles of flow and find one that fits each student. There will be exercises to introduce students to rhyming structure, character exploration through rapping, developing hooks, and creating more complex flow styles. Students will implement these through long form improv scenework.
No prior experience necessary.
About the Instructor:
RJ Williams has performed hip hop improv across the US, Europe and Japan. He is a longtime member of North Coast Hip Hop Improv and the musical improv group Baby Wants Candy, and he brings a multidisciplinary background in playwriting, drumming, and music production to his teaching.
