Cry ’til you laugh! Writing can help us make sense of our most difficult moments and sometimes, laughter helps us carry the weight. In this four-week in-person course, you’ll explore how to write about emotional experiences with both honesty and humor. Whether you’re drawing from your own life or creating fictional stories, you’ll learn how comedy can offer relief, insight, and connection.

Together, we’ll talk about topics like sadness, anxiety, relationships, and conflict – whatever feels meaningful to you – and develop those ideas into written pieces. Along the way, we’ll look at comedians and writers who blend emotional truth with humor, examining how they shape their stories and discovering how you can shape your own voice.

Through in-class writing, discussion, and supportive feedback, this course offers a space to process experiences, connect with others, and discover the unexpected joy of finding laughter in even the hardest moments. There’s no “right” way to express yourself here: just space to show up and write.
