Intensive: Intro to Sketch Directing

Have you ever wondered what a sketch/improv director actually does? Do you watch other coaches and directors and have a suspicion that directing is something you could be really good at? This intensive will dive into the art and science of sketch directing, exploring many aspects of the role, from casting to opening night. Learn about running order, generating material, working with actors and designers, and more in an effort to unpack the tools and mindset of directing.This is a highly participatory workshop with directors having the opportunity to work with performers and meet with directors, artists, and leaders around the organization. Prerequisite: 1 year of improv training at Second City or approval from Artistic Directors
