Compensation: $20/per hour CAD

Job Summary: 
The Facilities Associate at The Second City is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, upkeep, and functionality of our space. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to collaborate effectively with diverse teams to create a seamless experience for all patrons, clients, and guests.

Primary Responsibilities

Event Setup & Teardown

  • Support setup and teardown of theatre, classroom, and event spaces, including seating layouts, signage, décor, and stage or tech equipment as needed.
  • Coordinate with production, Front of House, and partner teams to ensure each event setup/teardown meets requirements and safety standards.
  • Assist with logistics for deliveries, furniture moves, and event resets.
  • Maintain an organized storage system for event supplies and facility equipment.

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lighting replacements, painting touch-ups, minor plumbing, carpentry, and general facility upkeep.
  • Regularly inspect and maintain building systems and equipment, identifying and reporting issues requiring external vendor service.
  • Track and log repair work through established maintenance schedules.
  • Support external contractors as needed during onsite work (e.g., electrical, plumbing, pest control, or other specialized services).

Projects & Preventative Work

  • Assist with seasonal and ad hoc projects as directed.
  • Help implement safety and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and materials.

Collaboration & Safety

  • Work closely with stage management, Front of House, and operations teams to ensure readiness for performances and events.
  • Follow all company and building safety policies; maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Report safety or facility concerns promptly to the Director of Operations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent accredited certification; technical or vocational training in facilities management or a related field is a plus.
  • Basic proficiency in computers, internet applications, and email communication.
  • Ability to lift items up to 40 pounds and perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, and crouching for extended periods (at least 4 hours).
  • Comfortable using a 6-foot step ladder and other equipment as needed.
  • May be required to work at different times of day (day, evening) and weekends; flexible schedule an asset.
