$18.50 USD/Hour

 

Position Summary:  

Working under the Camp Lead, The Camp Counselor provides administrative and student support at The Second City Training Centre Summer Camps. This is a full-time seasonal position running weekdays from June 3 – August 16 (including training).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Keep and maintain a roster of campers, contact information, and medical info weekly 
  • Ensure the safe storage, use, and organization of camp supplies and t-shirts 
  • Supervise student drop-off and pick-up every day 
  • Serve as primary supervision for students during breaks and lunch time 
  • Prepare classrooms for camp, clean up after camp and lunch breaks 
  • Assist and supervise students who require one on one support or time away from class 
  • Support camp teachers, other counselors, and staff in student behavior management 
  • Assist with parent communications as needed 
  • Ensure that safety procedures are followed and that all programs are in compliance with The Second City standards, and other applicable regulations and standards 
  • Assist in maintaining a fun and safe environment at camp 

  

Hours:  

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm 

  

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):  

  • 1-3 years experience working with children 
  • Experience in customer service and interacting with parents 
  • Strong organizational and communication skills 
  • The ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, loud environment 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel 
  • Complete a background check meeting Second City standards 

Desired Qualifications 

  • CPR & First Aid certification is desired but not required.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, use hands or fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include those associated with data entry. 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
