« Virtual Reality », le nouveau spectacle d’Alaa Abu Diab offre une plongée drôle et lucidement inconfortable dans le monde que nous pensons habiter… et celui qui se déroule pendant que nous vérifions compulsivement nos notifications.

Ces deux dernières années ont fait apparaître une distorsion presque absurde : les images de guerre défilent sous nos yeux, tandis qu’on nous demande de poursuivre notre vie comme si rien ne se passait.

C’est cette double réalité qu’Alaa explore : celle que l’on regarde sans vraiment la voir, et celle que l’on joue à habiter, tant bien que mal.

Avec tendresse, recul et un humour qui gratte là où ça dérange, il met des mots sur ce grand écart mental auquel nous nous sommes habitués, presque sans y penser.

Growing up, humour was his way to make friends, integrate, and feel safe. Later, when he moved to a new country and felt isolated, he reached for the only tool he had ever trusted: comedy.

A single Facebook video became the bridge he built back to belonging.

Comedy is how he makes people listen.

It’s how he processes things bigger than him. It’s how he stays human in a world that often feels too heavy at times.

Alaa Abu Diab est humoriste, mais surtout observateur aigu de notre époque : il saisit le malaise, la contradiction, l’exil, et les convertit en lucidité comique. Sur scène, il ne joue personne d’autre que lui-même. Son humour ne relève pas de la punchline, mais d’un rapport frontal au réel.

Pour lui, l’humour est un mécanisme de survie et une langue de lien. Enfant, il s’y est accroché pour s’intégrer et trouver sa place. Plus tard, une simple vidéo Facebook a rouvert la voie du stand-up et est devenue un nouveau territoire d’appartenance.

Depuis, l’humour est sa manière de produire du sens, d’absorber ce qui le dépasse et, au fond, de préserver une part d’humanité et de lucidité dans un monde qui, souvent, les malmène.
