Jim Bennett is a writer, performer and he’s a professional gay. He chaired the state-wide coalition that won the freedom to marry in Illinois. Working for Lambda Legal, he was part of the team that also won marriage equality in Iowa and Indiana. He was a longtime member of GayCo Productions, which began life as a LGBT outreach of Second City. He has written and performed for Second City Theatricals, Annoyance, Schadenfreude and ‘the Moth’. Jim graduated from the Second City Conservatory in addition to having a couple business degrees. In 2013, Jim was the Moth Storytelling ‘Grandslam Champion’ for ‘Church of Hamballs’, a story about his experience in Iowa after Lambda Legal’s marriage victory.
