Mark your calendars for a slate of brand-new and original shows opening this fall at The Second City. The e.t.c. stage’s 45th revue The Best Decision You’ve Ever Made opens October 28th for press at 7:00 p.m. The show is directed by Frank Caeti and performed and written by returning ensemble members Atra Asdou, EJ Cameron, Mark Campbell, Laurel Krabacher, and Chuck Norment. They are joined by new cast member Alex Bellisle as well as stage manager Abby Beggs, musical director Tilliski Ramey, and assistant director Masood Haque, who are all making their resident stage debuts.
“The Best Decision You've Ever Made explores the choices we make and how they impact ourselves and everyone around us in a hilarious, heartfelt, and interactive way. Make a great decision and come experience this show," says Frank Caeti, who is an alumni of the e.t.c. himself and opening his first resident stage show as a director for The Second City after the pandemic interrupted the 44th revue.
Additionally, The Second City is kicking off the holiday season with two seasonal shows. Deck the Hallmark: A Greeting Card Channel Original returns to UP Comedy Club after the play’s smash run in 2019. Directed by Carisa Barreca, this festive two-act holiday movie parody scorches the clichés, tropes, and so-bad-they’re-good romances that keep viewers hooked and former child stars employed. The show features actors Tina Arafee, Mitchell J. Fain, Sarah Lo, Karla Serrato, TJ Thomas, and Morgan Van Dyne with musical direction by Lisa McQueen and stage manager Shannon Golden-Starr. New material for 2021 was written by Barreca, Edgar Blackmon and Marla Caceres. Deck the Hallmark runs Thursday-Sunday evenings with weekend matinees beginning November 4th.
“Deck the Hallmark will be an experience, a spectacle, and a new Second City tradition we hope to share with our audiences for years to come.” says director and Second City alumna Barreca.
The Second City’s Best of The Holidays, performed by the cast of The Second City Touring Company, unwraps the most wonderful time of the year by celebrating over sixty years of sketches, songs, and comedic conviviality. Watch the next generation of comedy superstars put their improv skills on display and a new twist on Second City’s greatest holiday hits. Best of the Holidays begins running November 22nd on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings in UP Comedy Club with Saturday matinees in The Second City Mainstage.
