A welcoming introduction to the art of improvisation and the tools it offers to help us deal with social anxiety.
This sampler class gives students an introduction to the work done in the Improv for Anxiety Program. A Second City instructor will lead the class through a series of improv exercises that are specifically chosen to help students focus on the present, step outside of their comfort zones, and embrace the unknown in a nurturing and low-pressure environment.
About The Second City’s Improv for Anxiety Program
The Improv for Anxiety Program aims to build a nurturing space and student community where students can slowly explore the tenets of improvisation while receiving accommodations due to feelings of fear or anxiety.
The Improv for Anxiety Program is not a substitute for therapy. Instructors focus on teaching improvisational skills such as listening, being others focused, taking risks, and working from a “Yes, And…” mindset.
