Spotlight at the Second City is a new series from Taylor Hreljac & Gabe Meacher that celebrates sketch comedy’s best troupes. Each month, The Second City will open its doors to the next generation of sketch by putting the spotlight on two of our favourite sketch troupes. Audiences will get to enjoy a double-header sketch show: two acts, one amazing night of fresh comedy.

Comedy magician Rob “Fish the Magish” Fishbaum is reeling you in for a night of big laughs, bold magic, and shameless shtick. Audience Rating & Content Warning: This show will shatter your sense of what’s possible. Carson & Taylor’s illusions are not for the faint of heart—they bend reality, toy with your perception, and may have you questioning whether the world you know is real. Expect flashes of danger, moments of genuine suspense, and illusions sharp enough to draw blood.

Parental guidance is strongly suggested. Some scenes may be too intense for younger audiences, and prolonged exposure may result in existential chills, gasps of disbelief, and utter amazement.
But rest assured: No audience members will be harmed, no minds will be permanently broken, and all reality-bending will remain strictly PG-13.

80% clown, 40% sketch comedy, 10% macaroni art, and 22% we haven’t learned to do percentages yet, “Milk Milk Lemonade” follows the (class) clowns of Mallowmarsh Elementary as they navigate the snack-time stock exchange, the horrors of health class, and the rough-and-tumble world of indoor recess to answer the age-old question: I know you are but what am I?

The Second City Conservatory is an advanced six-level program dedicated to the art of utilizing improvisation as a tool to create a Second City-style revue, the cornerstone of The Second City Training Centre.

Students in the Conservatory program build upon the fundamentals of improv, advance their scenic and character skills, explore forms and styles and learn how to turn improvised scenes into written material for a satiric comedy revue.

Comedian and online sensation Sam Sferrazza (@samislaughing) records his second stand up comedy album as one of Toronto’s most beloved acts. With over 70k followers, comedy specials on CBC Gem and credits like Just For Laughs, Winnipeg Comedy Festival and Departure Fest, Sam is set to deliver his trademark acerbic, energetic rants and raves for this one-night-only event. These two shows will be audio recordings meant for the album, so come be a part of the “studio audience” and hear your laughter immortalized forever. Opening act TBD.

Have you ever experienced the art of poetry and stories stir your soul? If not then here’s your chance to experience it from India’s leading award winning poetess herself “Priya Malik “ the poet who took us to 1999 explained the difference between Pyaar and Ishq and made chai an emotion whose warmth we’ve all felt.

“Ishq hai Ishq hai Ishq hai“ is Priya’s solo poetry show that will make you feel things you’ve never felt before. For the first time in Toronto this show will make you laugh and cry and live along.

In Worlds Collide, your favourite characters get smashed together an explosive, unpredictable show. Eight of Toronto’s funniest comedians play characters from fiction, history, pop culture and any other weirdly specific niche they can find. After meeting them, YOU, the audience decide on which characters you want to see do a hilarious improv scene together. Maybe Linda Belcher will be in a pitch meeting with Walt Disney. Maybe Rocky will be roommates with a Muppet. Any pairing can happen, as long as the audience decides it wants to see those Worlds Collide!
