Art Director
About the position
The Second City Marketing team seeks an enthusiastic and creative individual looking to lead brand visual direction in a busy theatrical marketing environment. You will work directly with the VP of Marketing, creative team, and production teams providing support to the various divisions of The Second City with a main focus on our marketing efforts for the multiple stages and training centers in Chicago, Toronto, and soon New York.
You'll be part of an exciting range of creative projects:
- Your daily driver will be crafting hard-working, smart, and fun visuals for social and digital needs • Concept and produce content at the forefront of new media, technology and is socially driven • See your ideas through from concept to execution, working with creative leaders, marketing managers, copywriters, social strategists, and other internal and external partners
- Collaborate with our team to bring to life ideas in social, digital, TV, and retail as needed
- Proactively identify opportunities to tap into or incorporate the latest trends in creativity, executional approaches & techniques, and broader inspirations, innovations and interruptions Essential
Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate clearly with internal clients to achieve the goals of various marketing pieces
- Maintain an understanding of current Second City branding in all design work
- Manage projects in a timely manner and respect deadlines
Requirements for the role
- At least 7+ years of professional experience designing for print, digital, email, and social media (theater marketing experience a strong plus)
- Work as part of an ensemble in a truly collaborative environment, managing expectations and deadlines for multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong conceptual and brainstorming skills
- Success in bringing concepts to completion with skill and in a timely manner
- Comfortable taking instructions and feedback
- Self-motivated, hard-working, initiative-taking
- Extensive experience with the following design applications is required: Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign).
Portfolio:
To be considered, all candidates MUST submit their resume with samples of creative design work (website link preferred) and a short 5-line paragraph of introduction that highlights 2 of your favorite projects in your portfolio, indicating your availability to start and your interest in The Second City position. The portfolio should be clear on what is concept work and what is realized work. If a team member is on a represented project, please indicate your role.
