Been There, Still There follows a baby boomer couple and their journey to a destination wedding in Ireland. Written and performed by Second City Main Stage alums Nancy McCabe-Kelly and Bruce Jarchow, this performance serves as a follow up to their original, critically acclaimed show which debuted at Donny’s Sky Box and went on to run at The People’s Improv Theater in New York, The Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse, and a sold-out performance at the 2016 Chicago Improv Festival on Second City’s E.T.C. stage.
This new iteration has our characters embarking on a new destination (Ireland) that will seemingly solve all their problems as they vent frustrations, concerns and fears while navigating life as empty nesters in a post covid world. The local radio wisdom from a small Wisconsin town seeps into their subconscious as the trip takes hilarious, unexpected and ultimately heartwarming turns.
Though the show is scripted, each performance is slightly different as the characters riff and play off the audience. It’s only fitting that their adventure brings them back to Donny’s. This one-act show runs roughly 1 hour in length.
