Anne Libera

Director of Comedy Studies

Anne Libera is Director of Comedy Studies and oversees the B.A. in Comedy Writing and Performance at Columbia College Chicago, a collaboration with The Second City and the first degree of its kind in the United States.  During her nine years as the Executive Artistic Director of The Second City Training Centers she was responsible for the creation of Second City’s Youth Program, Summer Camps, Directing and Musical Improv programs. Directing credits include Stephen Colbert's one man show Describing a Circle, The Madness of Curious George, Computer Chips and Salsa, and The Second City Goes to War as well as Second City productions in the United States, Edinburgh, Scotland, Vienna, Austria and on NCL cruise ships. Her book, The Second City Almanac of Improvisation is published by Northwestern University Press. She has presented on improvisation and comedy at the Aspen Ideas Festival, Chicago Ideas week, TCG’s annual conference, guest lectured at the Stanford Business School, and served as an artistic adviser to the Museum of Science and Industry. A graduate of Northwestern University, Anne is on the governing board of Gilda’s Club Chicago and has more books in her office than anyone else at Second City.
