There are no mistakes (in improv)! Learn what a gift improv can be, whether you want to be more adaptable in group work situations, improve your public speaking skills, or learn a new art form.
Students begin in Level A with ensemble, environment, and games, and end in Level E by rehearsing and performing their own fully improvised show.
Our core Comedy Writing program is a yearlong course of study introducing students to the fundamentals of sketch comedy writing and culminating in a one-act sketch comedy show performed by top Training Center talent and produced by the writing students themselves.
Whether you want to get better at writing for yourself or for others, this program is for you!
Stand-Up & Storytelling
Discover your unique comic voice! Stand-up uses an improvisational approach to the creation and delivery of solo comic material. Craft your set, learn joke construction, and discover how to navigate your first open mic. Storytelling courses will help you bring structure and craft to your autobiographical stories and are intended to be taken with multiple instructors in any order.
Become a better public speaker at presentations and speeches. This class will provide you with a foundation for public speaking, along with several opportunities to practice, refine, and reinforce your learning. Each week, you will receive one-on-one, in-depth coaching and feedback. Develop greater public speaking success professionally and personally.
The Second City Music Program is dedicated to helping students explore comedy’s unique relationship to music through voice, instruments, improvisation, and songwriting.
Drop-Ins & 1 Day Workshops
Have fun and meet new people through our weekly drop-in classes! It’s a great way to take our classes for a test run before committing to a full term. Drop-ins are offered multiple times a week, and one-day workshops are available between terms.
Intensives (3- or 4-Day, Multi-Level Program)
Improv Intensives explore the same concepts taught in our Improv Level A-C classes, but in a shorter time period. Same concepts, same fun, same cost! Intensives happen over two weekends (Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday afternoon) or over one long weekend (all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday or Monday, depending on the long weekend).
