The Art of the Self-Tape (Online)

Learn self-tape techniques from veteran actor and director Shari Hollett. As the industry moves more towards self-tape submissions as a central pillar of the casting process, this class will give you the agency and confidence to create professional-quality self-tapes that will help you stand out to casting directors. This class is for advanced acting students or actors already working professionally.

Prerequisites:

  • Second City Conservatory
  • College-level or equivalent performance training
  • Some on-set/on-stage experience in a professional production or shoot

 

About the instructor: Shari Hollett is a writer, actor, Second City alumna, and veteran director of theatre and ​live comedy and more recently film and digital content. Directing credits include shows for The Second City Touring Company, The Second City Detroit, Theatre Passe Muraille, the Blyth Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe, the HBO Comedy Arts Festival, Sudbury Theatre Centre, and the New York Fringe. She has taught and directed several generations of comedic and dramatic talent, actors who have appeared on such shows as I think you Should leave/The Handmaids Tale/SNL/ Station 11/ Degrassi/Schitts Creek/ Baroness/This hour has 22 minutes/ /The Knick/ Air Farce/ Tallboyz/ Ghosts/The Samantha Bee show/This is That/Good Witch/ and The Beaverton. Shari’s TV and film credits include Stir of Echoes 2, The West Wing, Wild Card, Guilt by Association, Walter and Henry, Blue Murder, The Dan Jansen Story and SCTV. Stage work includes roles for Tarragon Theatre, VideoCabaret, The Second City, the Toronto Fringe, and Edmonton Fringe.
