Major Concepts: Creating a theme that can sustain a whole show. POV. Writing different types of scenes commonly found in a Second City-style sketch revue.
Class Work Examples: Write a silent scene (with stage directions) that explores a physicalized, representative moment of your theme (i.e. the daily grind shown through waking up, getting dressed, getting coffee, etc.). Choose music that complements or contrasts it.
Commitment: 2-5 hours per week
Since this is a more advanced course and requires writing a one-hour show in four weeks, your time commitment is self-directed. If you are starting from scratch, it may take more. If you have some sketches under your belt and a good idea of what you want to write about, it may take less.
Technical Requirements: Word Program, Streaming services, PDF-formatting software
