Teen Harold Ramis Film School Online: Directing Comedy for Film & Video

This is a teen version of the adult class. Through weekly exercises, analysis of online clips, and virtual class discussions this course teaches you how to tap your own creativity, get the most out of a group of people while keeping your perspective, and how to work with actors. Students will learn ways of incorporating Second City’s practice of improvisation and the basics of film directing.

Oscar-nominated director, John Hancock (Prancer, Bang the Drum Slowly, Let’s Scare Jessica to Death) brings his 50 years of filmmaking experience to this class. His latest feature “The Girls of Summer”, which grew out of his work with HRFS, will start streaming soon.  In addition to his eleven features, he has done a number of “Hill Street Blues” and “Twilight Zones.”

Students must have access to Internet, Final Draft (or free Writer Duet screenwriting software), and a webcam.
