Your story is important, and by embracing our vulnerabilities and sharing our experiences with others, we all become better human beings. Take your personal experience and turn it into a story worth telling. Draw from your own life to find material that is honest and relatable and learn to tell your story in a way that’s compelling and entertaining.
Storytelling: Discovering Your Story is for anyone with unique, exciting or intense personal experiences looking for help crafting these emotionally-driven moments from their lives into strong, evocative, and conversational Moth-like stories. These stories do not have to be comedic (thought that’s great if they are!) but should definitely be personal and stirring.
You will learn about theme, finding and teasing out elements that support your theme, how to discover an organic structure, how to perfect that “front stoop storytelling” style, and did we mention theme?
This class is very much focused on putting your story on its feet early and often, and using these reps to discover vital elements and discard the pieces that don’t fit.
Storytelling: Discovering Your Story meets once a week for three hours over an eight week term. An optional student showcase follows at the end of the term.
This workshop is not offered every term. If you would like to be informed when it becomes available, please click here.
