Create comedy web series from script to screen in this 16-week writing and video production course.
For the first eight weeks, students will work in a writer’s room to write 4-5 episodes of a collaborative web series. Students will pitch ideas, give and receive notes, create a show bible and story outline, script episodes, and begin pre-production and casting.
During the second eight weeks, students will become directors and/or producers tasked with bringing the episodes to the screen. Working with a professional camera and sound crew, students will shoot on location and rotate crew roles each week.
Students will gain experience in directing actors, creating budgets and schedules, scouting locations, production design, continuity, and operating as a small, guerrilla-style movie crew.
The finished product is a polished web series that is 100% student created.
This is an intense, focused, hands-on course for people who want to dive into creating a finished show in a short period of time. Shoots will happen during class time, but there may be significant outside writing and pre-production work.
Creating the Comedy Web Series is open to students who have completed Intro to Writing for TV & Film or Comedy Film Production 1. The class meets once a week for three hours over two eight-week terms (16 weeks).
This workshop is not offered every term. If you would like to be informed when it becomes available, please click here.
