    Toronto Training Centre Open House October 1st!

    We're opening our doors for FREE workshops, shows, prizes, food and more!

    Have you always wanted to try improv, writing or stand up? Have you ever walked by 70 Peter Street and wondered "What's in the basement of that office building?" Well now you can find out!

    We have classes for:
    Adults (Improv, Writing, Stand Up, Conservatory, Singing)
    Youth & Teens (Winter, March Break & Summer Camps, weekly improv classes, bi-weekly performances in The John Candy Box)
    Shows: Every night of the week!

    Every 15 minutes there is a show, drop in class, or prize giveaways!

    No preregistration required!

    There is lots for current students too! Try our Writing for TV class, or our Stand Up Drop In. If you are a current student, bring a friend! If they sign up for a class on Open House Day, you get $25 off your next class!

    Send Your Kids to Second City Fantasy Camp – August 1 – 4

    This summer, we're excited to bring our summer camp to Atlantis in Nassau, Bahamas! For 5 day/4 nights, we're training 11 – 14 in the art of improvisation and helping them to write an original show that's all their own.     A New Longform Program at the Training Centre in Toronto

    A new Longform Improv Program is being launched next session. The program will be in response to increased demand for quality longform Improv classes in Toronto. The program will be headed up by Rob Norman, a current member of the Second City National Touring Company and founding member of the Improv and Sketch troupes "Maybe" and "Mantown". Rob has developed a 4-Level curriculum that will introduce Improvisers to longform technique and eventually have them design their own format.

    • The Second City Training Centre Open House October 16th

    The Second City Toronto is pleased to announce that it will host an Open House Celebration on Saturday October 16th in honour of the expansion of its Training Centre facilities.

    The Open House will feature family programming from 1-4pm with snacks drop in workshops, puppet shows, face painting and a special performance by The Second City’s Education cast "My Homeroom Teacher's a Vampire!" There is fun for the whole family - and it's all Free!

    The Second City Nominated for Two Canadian Comedy Awards!

    The Second City was nominated for two Canadian Comedy Awards this morning: Best Comedic Play or Revue for 0% Down, 100% Screwed, and Best Sketch Troupe (for the cast of Shut Up and Show Us Your Tweets). Congratulations to the cast and crew of these shows!


    Alumni and current cast members of The Second City were nominated for a host of awards for other projects including:

    Beloved Almuni Gerry Salsberg Passes Away

    Beloved Second City Alumnus Gerry Salsberg passed away last night in Toronto. Gerry appeared on the Toronto Second City stage in 1973, and enjoyed decades of success in character roles on television. The Second City extends its condolences to Gerry’s family and many colleagues.

    Services for Gerry Salsberg will be held Thursday, June 24th at Steeles Memorial Chapel, 350 Steeles Ave West, Toronto. Memorial donations may be made to the Starlight Foundation (416-502-9474) or to the Hospital for Sick Children (416-813-5320).
