Introduction to Drawing for Cartoons & Animation

Intro to Drawing for Cartoons & Animation (Grades 9-12) TBA

In this 4-week intensive, students learn the tools of the trade and build confidence through effective drawing habits and skill building exercises. Students learn how to construct characters using simple and complex shapes. Other concepts covered are perspective, layering, character stereotypes and translating acting to the page. No previous drawing experience is necessary. Mistakes are not only good, they are opportunities to improve.

Jay Flores-Holz is a Toronto based art director and character based illustrator with a background in classical animation. Jay is a strong believer that anyone can learn to draw. “If you can draw a circle, you can learn to draw cartoons.”

Prerequisites: Open to all students. All supplies needed for the class will be provided on the first day.
