Summer Camps 2014

Spend your summer at The Second City, where you can exercise your creative energies in our improvisation and comedy writing camps!! Campers play fun improv games to help access creativity, boost self-confidence and develop spontaneity and playfulness. At the end of each week, campers perform in a showcase for their friends and family!

Camps are taught by talented, and experienced Second City instructors/actors and alumni.

Tuition for 1 week camps - $420.00+HST / $400+HST Early Registered (BEFORE MARCH 31)
Some holidays apply, camps are prorated accordingly

After Camp Care is available Monday-Thursday until 5pm. An additional charge of $10 per day per child will be incurred. Please notify The Training Centre in advance if After Camp Care is required.

Sibling discounts are available if registered for the same session! Please register directly with the office for this discount.

Remember to hold onto all Summer Camp receipts. You may be eligible for a Children's Arts Tax Credit. We charge $10 to re-issue receipts at tax time. If you do not receive your receipt 24 hours after registration please contact The Training Centre Office — 416.340.7270.

AUGUST 11-15
$420+HST / $400+HST Early Registered

ADVANCED IMPROV: ADVENTURE-PROV (Previous improv experience recommended)
Every great novelist begins with a single idea. Learn how to build on that idea and create your on stories, through improv!
(Grades 5-8) REGISTRATION

IMPROV: CHARACTER (No experience necessary)
Explore how to create a wide variety of characters, big and small (Like the ones you see on Saturday Night Live and That's So Weird). We welcome novices and experienced players to this camp! Whether you've booked your first feature film or never stepped foot on stage this camp is for you!(Grades 5-8) REGISTRATION

BEGINNER COMEDY STYLES: IMPROV (No experience necessary)
Learn how to create large characters like on SCTV Saturday Night Live and Funny or Die! Campers will explore physicality in silent scenes and play around with different devices for character creation. Campers will have a showcase at the end the week. Bring out your inner Mr. Bean.
(Grades 9-12) REGISTRATION

IMPROV GAMES (No experience necessary)
Campers play fun improv games (like Whose Line is it Anyway) to help access creativity, boost self-confidence and develop spontaneity and playfulness.
(Grades 2-4) - REGISTRATION
(Grades 5-8) - REGISTRATION

ADVANCED IMPROV & SKETCH (Previous improv experience recommended)
Use improv as a writing tool. Learn the beginning fundamentals of writing your own sketches (brainstorming, collaboration and reincorporation)(Grades 5-8) REGISTRATION

ADVANCED COMEDY STYLES: WRITING (Previous improv or comedy writing experience recommended)
Comedy comes in many different packages! Campers learn how to define their own voice and point of view through the exploration of Stand Up, comedy monologues and 2 hander routines (think Abbott and Costello). Campers will watch classic Second City Archive scenes, and legendary Stand Up acts (age appropriate material) before taking a shot at creating their own comedy piece.
(Grades 9-12) REGISTRATION

BEGINNER COMEDY STYLES: WRITING (No experience necessary)
Comedy comes in many different packages! Get an introduction to using improve as a writing tool to create sketch comedy scenes. Perform 2 hander scenes and comedy monologues. Campers watch The Second City's newest Family Theatricals show and perform in their own showcase at the end of camp.
