What Makes a character?
Tired of being that same old you on stage and in scenes? Learn how to create unique and original characters by making strong, quick and clear choices.
Explore how to create characters through exploring physicality, vocal choices, and point of view. After learning how to make characters, your next goal is to remember your strong choices, through use of repetitions (character hooks) so that your character stays with you throughout the scene, format or show.
Pre-requisite: Level C

Instructor: Kirsten Rasmussen
Kirsten is an improviser, actor, sketch artist, stand-up comedien and playwright. She studied theatre at the University of Alberta where she received a BFA in acting. Kirsten’s created two award winning shows while in Montreal Blink Blink won best of Fringe in 2011, and went on to a spot at the Centaur’s Wildside Festival. Blink Blink was also nominated for Just for Laugh’s Best Comedy and also a MECCA (Montreal English Critic’s Circle Awards) for Best New Script. Tough!, Kirsten’s second solo show won the Beyond the Mountain Touring award at 2012 Fringe. Her new solo Chuckin’ Guffs was featured last fall season at the Montreal Improv Theatre. She played Kate in Repercussion Theatre’s “Taming of the Shrew,” and performed in many of Le Nouveau International’s shows at Theatre Sainte Catherine.
