A two day Workshop for Educators

This professional development workshop for educators explores the fundamentals of improvisation and its integration into the curriculum of any subject area.

Introduction to Improvisation Concepts and Exercises: Through active participation in the improvisational exercises, discover the principal concepts of improvisational learning.

Teaching and Side-Coaching the Exercises: Explore methods of teaching and side-coaching the exercises, and brainstorm on curriculum integration concepts and techniques.

Resource Guide: All participants receive a copy of the Second City guide to Improv in the Classroom which outlines the exercises covered, techniques for side-coaching, suggested variations and adaptions, post-exercise discussion questions and additional resources.

For more than forty years, The Second City has utilized improvisation to create original works for the stage and to teach skills that can be adapted to everyday life such as listening, team building, thinking quickly, brainstorming, social integration and empathy. Improvisation is an active student-centered learning that supports the development of critical thinking as well as emotional, kinesthetic, visual, audio/oral, musical/math and spatial intelligence The Second City has taught workshops at hundreds of schools and companies throughout the world.
