Sketch Writing for the Stage

At the Second City Training Center in Hollywood we offer two tracks for writers. They are:

• Sketch Writing for the Stage
• Comedy Writing for Film/TV

SKETCH WRITING FOR THE STAGE

Master the skills of writing sketch comedy for the stage using the Second City style revue as a guide. In this program designed for writers and actors of all experience levels, learn basic scene structure, character development, establishing action and styles and genres of comedy. Weekly writing assignments and in-class exercises help generate material and establish a regular writing schedule.

These classes are $365/$335 early registration per term.

Sketch Writing for the Stage 1 TERM 2 2012

Comedy Writing Basics - brainstorming ideas, creating environment, writing dialogue, and working with story.

Sketch Writing for the Stage 2 TERM 2 2012

Character and Premise - creating characters and working with basic premises using the Second City method.

Sketch Writing for the Stage 3 TBA

Variety of Scene Types- exploring the types of scenes found in a Second City style revue including the application of satire and genre parody.

Sketch Writing for the Stage 4 TBA

Creating the Revue - writing and editing original material for a Second City style revue with a cast of actors.

Sketch Writing for the Stage 5 TBA

Producing the revue- producing the Second City style revue from pre-production through closing night. Focus on re-writing.
