Nancy Beckett is a solo performer, memorist, playwright and founder of Lakeside Writing Studio where she offers multi-genre workshops for adult writers of all ability levels. (See www.writingwithnancy.com). Improvisation has had the greatest impact on her understanding of teaching writing. Currently she is writing a novel and developing an affordable, online course for creative writing. Her training includes: MFA/Playwriting –Yale Drama School; Fiction writing – Molly Daniel's Clothesline School in Hyde Park and an Adult Ed endorsement in post-secondary writing instruction. Beckett has written films, developed television in a joint-venture project and co-wrote a 12-part sketch comedy series for video with Stuart Ross (Forever Plaid). Nancy currently teaches comedy writing, parody and satire at the English Department at Columbia College.
