Gar is an award-winning screenwriter and playwright based in Chicago. As a team with his longtime writing partner, Beth, his work has been recognized by more than two dozen film festivals and screenwriting competitions.
His latest feature project, Satisfying Alice, is being workshopped by a Paris-based theatre company winter 2013-2014. He'll also be shooting portions of a documentary The Paris Coffee Project on the city's third-wave coffee movement. His latest play, Life in Zero Gravity, will receive a staged reading in Chicago in 2014.
Gar is also co-writer of numerous other screenplays, including The Ellen and Ted Show, whose attached cast includes Michael Urie and Sandra Bernhard in supporting roles. He and Beth are also currently developing several TV series projects.
Gar helped develop the curriculum for the Screenwriting and Story for Film & TV courses at Loyola University Chicago, where he and Beth teach as a team to upperclassmen in the International Film & Media Studies Program.
Gar is creative director and partner at ideafarm, a boutique branding and digital content agency, for which he has shot numerous short films, music videos and web series. He is an accomplished photographer whose street photography series, The Art of the Wall, is on exhibit in Chicago. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild and is represented by a New York-based literary and talent agency.
