Comedic Songwriting TERM 2 1012

Prerequisites: Open to all students.

Advanced Comedic Songwriting TBA

Prerequisites: Students must be graduates of the Music Improv or Writing program, have completed Comedic Songwriting 1 or Conservatory Level 4, or be given permission by the head of the Music Program.

Focus on improving existing material, creating new songs, and exploring technique. Musicians and lyricists will collaborate, revise and critique under the guidance of the instructor. Because a basic understanding of songwriting theory is assumed, students will work to put their knowledge into practice. This class provides a great opportunity for those with current theatrical songwriting projects to receive feedback and mentoring. Students leave the class with a portfolio of their work.

Performance: Class culminates with a staged reading of student songs performed by Training Center students and alumni.
