Basic Guitar for Improvisers March 3-24

Learn how to strum, a handful of chords, and how to use a capo, and soon you'll be able to accompany yourself onstage and off. Whether you want to write songs for your sketch or standup show, or just jam out and improvise, a few major and minor chords will put you there!

$80, 1.5 hours, 4 weeks

Prerequisites: No experience necessary. Students need to bring their own guitar.

About the instructor: Jimmy Tomasello, aka Jimmy T., has taught thousands of students over the years at Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music where he currently manages the Guitar Program. He plays a variety of styles working with students of all ages. In a former incarnation he has done improv with David Shepherd, Del Close, Nate Herman and other luminaries of the genre. Over the years he has coached Paul Dinello and members of Baby Wants Candy. Rumor has it Jimmy taught a class on Elvis Costello tunes attended by an unknown Tina Fey.
