One day? Why not a week?

Student Appreciation Week is August 19-24! Come join us for free shows, workshops, and seminars all week long.

Check out our list of free shows and workshops below. Space is limited in each event and will be available on a first come first served basis on the day of the event; reservations are required where noted. Guests are also welcome to attend.

We'll have Youth & Teen workshops for ages 4-18 on Saturday morning from 10:00-11:50am and a teen open mic on Tuesday night.

 

Tuesday, August 19

7:30pm Teen Stand-up Open Mic - Bryan Bowden hosts an open mic for teen students ages 13-18. Students can perform a 3-5 minute stand-up set. Space is limited, so email Jessica Antes to sign up for a spot. Donny's Skybox Theater 
9:00pm Those Who Can't - Come improvise with our faculty! Those Who Can't meet every Tuesday at 10:15pm. Donny's Skybox Theater

 

Wednesday, August 20

7:00pm Groundhog Day screening and discussion - Join us for a viewing of the film Groundhog Day, directed by Second City alum Harold Ramis. Following the film, Writing instructor Rob Kozlowski will engage the audience in a post-show discussion about the film. Snacks will be provided. Thursday, August 21

6:00pm Auditioning for On-Camera Work - Lauren Phillips, a former talent agent now serving as a Casting Associate for Paskal Rudnicke Casting, gives an introductory seminar into the on-camera auditioning world. You will learn the difference between good and bad headshots, how to prepare for commercial auditions vs TV/film, and when it's time to find an agent and how. All questions are welcomed and encouraged. Time permitting, we will discuss terminology of the business and the different steps from an audition to a booking. Please reserve your spot online. Due to limited space, this event is only open to current and former Training Center students.
7:30pm The Best of Writing 6 - See some of the best sketches from our Writing Program graduation revues. Donny's Skybox Theater

10:00pm Improv Jam - Every Thursday night at 10pm we hold an improv jam for our Improv A-E students or anyone who just wants more practice or time to play. Room 405

 

Friday, August 22

10:15am Humor Doesn't Retire: Improv for Seniors - This 3-hour workshop for participants ages 55+ launches our new Improv for Seniors program. Improvisation expands your creativity, helps you think faster on your feet, work better with others and much more. Whether you want to socialize, stay mentally sharp, physically active or simply wish to participate in a fun weekly activity, improv is the answer. Please reserve your spot online.
