Have you ever wanted to write for late night television? This class runs you through a writer’s room style format to create a host monologue, push out topical newsdesk jokes and formulate bits for guests.
Over the four week class students are safely put to the test by running an actual staged talk show hosted by Second City Alum Stacy McGunnigle. By the end of the class, students will have the tools to hone in on the humour of certain guests, experience what works when dealing with topical humour and write a monologue with consideration of a specific host’s delivery. Students must bring a laptop to class.
*The staged talk shows happen outside of class time (on the same night as the class). You will be given these dates on your first class.
