After graduating from the Business program at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, Lou Carbone went on to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from York University in Toronto, Canada in 1992. Shortly after graduation, Mr. Carbone was hired as a Financial Analyst by S.I.R. Corp, a restaurant operator that 5 years later would become a Joint Venture partner with The Second City in Toronto.

Mr. Carbone went on to start his own Accounting practice in the fall of 1993, providing accounting services and financial consulting to S.I.R. Corp. restaurants and other clients. While operating his own practice, Mr. Carbone continued to upgrade his education, earning a Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation in 1996.

In early 1998, Mr. Carbone took on the recently opened Second City/S.I.R. Corp Joint Venture as a client. Later that year, he accepted the position of Chief Financial Officer for The Second City Canada, overseeing the finances for the Joint Venture and other Second City Canadian affiliates.

In June 2005, Lou Carbone was offered and accepted the Chicago based position of Chief Financial Officer for Second City North America. Mr. Carbone works closely with the rest of the senior management team, providing them with the financial and strategic feedback which will help ensure the continued growth and success of The Second City for many years to come.
