Boot camps are held at The Second City Training Center, 6560 Hollywood Boulevard, Second Floor. Class sizes limited. Don't miss out. Call 323/464-8542.

Camp will take place Monday through Friday 10am to 4:30pm. All students will stay the whole day for a boot camp that will be both fun and educational. Students will be grouped by age in the following age ranges: 8-11, 12-14, and 15-18. Each day, the students will learn Improvisation, Sketch Comedy and for the first time ever in our boot camps--Musical Improvisation. All students are welcome and no previous writing, improvisation or singing experience is needed. At the end of the two weeks, parents and friends are invited to a free show where the students will show off their Improv, singing and sketch skills. Spend your summer with the Second City Training Center LA, making new friends and learning new skills-all while having loads of fun and laughs.

Camps are open to students ages 8-18. Camp is broken into three sections each day:

  • Improvisation: Explore the fundamentals of improvisation as taught and performed at The Second City. Develop skills like creative thinking, self-confidence, listening, brainstorming, team building, empathy and communication while having loads of fun and laughs.
  • Sketch Comedy: Learn the basics of sketch comedy scenes, the building block of any Second City show. You'll study classic Second City scenes, use improvisation to develop scenes and write original sketches. (Previous improv experience is recommended for those who are not concurrently taking improvisation.)
  • Musical Improvisation: Try something new! An introduction to musical games and techniques . The class introduces students to vocal performance, production, and projection for the actor/improviser; the basics of comedic songwriting; and the fundamental concepts of musical improvisation.
