Advanced Sketch

A class for experienced writers that includes working with actors from the beginning of the writing process. Each session of Advanced Sketch highlights an element of the revue process such as physical theater or genre work. A small group of writers (approximately eight) work in collaboration with their cast to create scenes that are unique to that ensemble.

Preformance: Advanced revue performances include a preview process with special emphasis placed on incorporating audience feedback.

Level 1

Term 1 2010 - Called "Having All The Fun", Joe Janes will guide writers through a process of creating a show and then the thrill of performing their own material. In this class, students will learn how to best write for themselves and their ensemble. They will also learn when to focus on being a writer and when to focus on being a performer.

There are additional auditions on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at 1pm. Qualified students who sign up to audition need to bring hardcopies of a 3-5 page sketch writing sample and an actor/improv resume to the Training Center. Headshot preferred but not required. The show will be presented in the second half of Term 2 2010. Stop by the Training Center office or call us at 312-664-3959 to set up an audition appointment.

Prerequisites

Students must submit a sample sketch and have completed Writing Level 6. Specific submission criteria will be posted online based on the emphasis of each process.
